What is Occupational Therapy and how can it help?
Occupational Therapy supports people to overcome challenges to do the things they want or need to do. Find out more about Mental Health Occupational Therapy.
How is Occupational Therapy different from psychology?
Both focus on helping you to feel better but use slightly different approaches. Often psychology will take more of a focus on the internal psychological process, and this can take some time. Occupational Therapists offer counselling support but also take a very practical focus. Through Occupational Therapy, you will set clear goals and develop skills and strategies so you can live your life to the full.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No you don’t. If you are interested in working with Way Ahead Therapy, get in touch and we can discuss your needs.
How many Occupational Therapy sessions will I need?
Typically people work with Way Ahead Therapy for 6-8 sessions. However, there is no set number. For some, a single consultation is enough and for others longer term support is needed. We will discuss your needs and wishes from the outset.

Again, this will be based on your needs and preferences. It can be helpful to meet weekly initially, however some people prefer fortnightly or even monthly. It is also possible to have ‘top up’ sessions as and when required.

Sessions are €90 on zoom or in person. Sessions typically last 45-60 minutes, although the first session may be longer. Home/ community visits by arrangement.
